Cala Varques - Manacor

A pretty, picture postcard of a beach - and only known by a few, so it remains an (almost) hidden gem. It’s reachable only by boat or on foot – which means if you make it you’re likely to have this beach all to yourself, unless it gets visited by the cows in the nearby field! You need to park the car and walk along a rough footpath to get to it - so travel light!

Surrounded by pine woods and further back, pine clad hills, this beach has no facilities just virgin white sand and crystal clear waters to swim in. And Cala Varques holds a surprise – in one of the cliffs there is an entrance cavity that leads to over 500m of underground caves.

How do I get there? Accessed by a path that goes through a private, rural property which is situated between Portocolom and Porto Cristo. From Manacor follow the road to Calas de Mallorca until you reach the crossroads at the Porto Cristo road. Head towards Porto Cristo for 150m before turning the first lane to the right. Go along the lane until you reach a barrier, then park and continue on foot (approx. 10 minutes) along a path that goes through a small wood until it reaches the beach.
