Mallorca's Weird Weather
encouraged the growth of wild mushrooms
The Autumn weather in Mallorca has been unusually warm. Following a wet September and a warm October, November's temperatures are well up on last year. It's hit almost 28 degrees in some places and on average has been a couple of degrees higher than normal. Some mountain areas are experiencing temperatures of 5 degrees above average.

So, while we're all strolling about in shorts and t-shirts, fashion clothes shops on the island are experiencing one of their worst Autumns ever with sales down by 40% of the normal on items like winter coats and knitwear. Shop owners are now worried that people won't buy much in December as they know that there will be sales in January.
One better effect of the climate is in the agricultural sector where the wet September and warm Autumn has encouraged the growth of wild mushrooms, and has brought forward the apple blossom on the trees and the planting of cereals and potatoes giving a good indication of an excellent harvest sooner than normal.
