Mallorca August Weather
higher average temperatures
Typically, Mallorca's August weather has been hot, atypically, it's been all over the place with big changes of temperature over short periods of time. The month has been marked by heat waves caused by hot air arriving from southern Africa giving temperatures of up to 40 degrees interspersed with 'cold' spells which have brought the temperatures down by eight degrees in a mere 48 hours.
Lluc Monastery (photo), in the mountainous north of the island has seen day time highs of 37.5 degrees combined with days when the mercury only reached 24 degrees. The balance of the month is an average temperature 1.2 degrees lower than normal. Strangely, other parts of Mallorca have experienced higher average temperatures than in the past?
Whatever the statistics say, the vast majority of Mallorca's August days were just ideal for lazing on the beaches or by the pool and balmy evenings just perfect for dining al fresco!
