Madrid airport had been closed because of snow

It's a funny old game, isn't it? Our favourite club, Real Mallorca are having a great season, but only at home, where they have a great record. Unfortunately, like some wines, when they hit the road, they don't travel well at all.

This was doubly true last Sunday when they played the might Real Madrid in front of 60,000 fanatical 'Galacticos' supporters. It was an awful day, cold, blowing a gale and snowing, and the 'Red Devils' lost by 2-0!

If that wasn't bad enough, the lads and 800 supporters who'd made the long trip, found that Madrid airport had been closed because of snow on the runway. The team themselves were eventually transferred back to a hotel at 04.00 to wait for a plane at mid-day on Monday. Some supporters had to wait until Monday afternoon at 16.00 to get a plane home.

The next home match is on Thursday at 20.00 when Mallorca try to pull back a 1-2 deficit in the second leg of the Copa de Rey against second division Rayo Vallecano, another Madrid team.
