Mallorca: Hail and Hearty
'Sun, Sea and A and E.'
Mallorca's main hospital, Son Dureta in Palma, is probably familiar to many of you from TV documentary programmes such as 'Holiday Hospital,' and 'Sun, Sea and A and E.'
It's now just fared really well in a study of 31 Spanish hospitals by a specialist consultancy IASIST. They found that Son Dureta's 'Heart' department had one of the best records in the country with a mortality rate 40% less than other hospitals.
Remember, that if you are a citizen of the European Union and have an accident or illness you can go along to the hospital or medical centre and receive free treatment as long as you have the correct documents with you – proof of identity and the EHIC card.
