Palma Palace of Congresses Progresses

350 lineal metres of glass and aluminium

If you've driven out to the airport from the Palma area recently you can't have failed to notice the gigantic structure taking shape in the Portixol area. It's Mallorca's new palace of congresses and the construction team there reckon they'll have the internal structure complete by May.

There are men, cranes and cherry pickers swarming all over the place at the moment trying to recuperate a small delay on the building and by next month it will be ready for the 350 lineal metres of glass and aluminium curtain wall to enclose the building.

When finished, in 2011, it will have an exhibition space of 3000 square metres and two congress halls, the larger of which can accommodate over 2000 people. It will also have a bar, cafe and restaurant with views over the Bay of Palma and Portixol, and a new Hotel finished to the highest standard will complete the facilities.
