Palma Fiesta: San Sebastian 2010
concerts galore and spectacular fireworks
It's Palma's big fiesta to celebrate San Sebastian's day on 20th January. The city pulls out all the stops for everyone to have a great time with concerts galore and spectacular fireworks. They've been celebrating it for hundreds of years – the fiesta marks the miraculous end of a plague in Palma in 1523 and 1524 when a bone from St. Sebastian's arm was brought to the city – so they've just about got it right now!
Everything starts on 17th January with a big parade round the from the Plaza España city taking in Calle San Miguel, Plaza Mayor, Calle Colon and the Plaza de Cort.
Here's a video of last year's procession.
On the 19th there are concerts almost everywhere in the city's squares in the evening.
Plaza de Espana – Concert organised by Los 40 Principales
Plaza Mayor - Luz Casal and Tomeu Penya
Plaza de la Reina - Jarabe de Palo, Cornellius and The Meeting Point

Plaza Juan Carlos I - Los Delincuentes
Plaza de l’Artesanía - Daniel Higiénico, Gamalataki and Desintegrados

On 22nd there's a concert with Fito & Fitipaldis and La Cabra Mecánica at the new venue Son Fusteret (in Son Castelo on the Metro route) - €23
The big day itself is celebrated with fireworks, so without further ado, here's a video from 2009.
