Septem at Es Baluard
400 year old Aljib
Palma's Museum of Modern and Contemporary art, Es Baluard, has an eye catching exhibition running until 24th October. It's called Septem and features the work of Mallorcan artist Pep Llambías in which he uses neon strip lighting and mirrors, so arranged that the work stretches on to infinity in the eye of the beholder.
The museum itself is a modern, clean lined structure, constructed in the old battlements overlooking the port and Santa Catalina. What gives this exhibition extra bite is that it is set in the 400 year old Aljib – a giant room constructed to act as a water system in times of siege.
Es Baluard is open Tuesday to Sunday and costs €6 to get in but on Fridays the public can choose how much they pay to enter!
