Art Mallorca: Wally Wood
busty heroines
The Casa Solleric art gallery on the Paseo Borne in Palma has announced that it will hold an exhibition of the work of American comic book artist Wally Wood in September. The dates will tie in with the now annual 'Night of Art' events when many galleries remain open until late to give workers in the city a chance to see them.
Wally Wood worked for EC, DC and Marvel Comics in the golden age of the 50's and also Mad magazine. His fantasy drawings featured muscular macho men, curvaceous, busty heroines and monstrously monstrous monsters from outer space.
There'll be around 200 of his drawings in the exhibition – entitled 'Woodwork' – and it's totally free to enter. Even if you're not in Palma in September do call in at the Casa Solleric, a marvellous mansion which is hundreds of years old to see how the rich lived in Palma years ago.
