Flamenco Soul

'souleria' a mix of soul and bulerias

The soul of Andalucia meets the soul of Black America when Antonio Pitingo plays Palma Auditorium next Saturday night, 11th June, at 22.00. Over 200, 000 people have already seen him on this tour and his album Ole and Amen has sold over 150,000 copies.

Pitingo, from Ayamonte in Huelva is steeped in Flamenco history and spirit, being related to not one, not two, but three of the best 'Flamenco Familes' in the south of Spain – the Carpio, Valencia and Pelaos de Triana clans.

Despite his origins, his other love is soul and gospel music with influences from Aretha, Ray, Stevie and Marvin, and this shows in his music. Dubbed 'souleria' a mix of soul and bulerias, Pitingo's love and knowledge of both genres is masterful as you can see from the video.
