Friday's the day the festive illuminations in Palma are ceremoniously switched on and this year it's the turn of recently retired tennis star Carlos Moya to do the honours.
He'll be at the Cort (town hall) to do the honours at dusk on 3rd December when he'll illuminate the centre of Palma and 60 districts of the city with Christmas spirit with the flick of a switch.

This year every bulb used is an energy saving one and will reduce the council's electricity bill by 50 % for the lights. As we reported last month,
other cost cutting methods have reduced the capital expenditure for the lights from €400,000 to €250,000 this year.
Merry Christmas everybody
