Soller Train – Closed for Repairs

One of Mallorca's best known tourist attractions, the old train

One of Mallorca's best known tourist attractions, the old train which runs from Palma to Soller is currently out of action
whilst essential maintenance is carried out on the tracks.

Originally built in 1912, the train carries passengers in the style of a bygone age along the 27 km route through the mountains and hence down to Soller, and onward to "/resorts/puerto_soller.htm">Port de Soller by tram.

Workers are currently renewing the tracks high up over Soller on the stretch of line which runs from the big tunnel through the Sierra Tramuntana mountains to the 'el Pujol den Banya' viewing
point. This is where the train stops to allow passengers to admire the fabulous views down into the valley and take a photograph (like mine, above) or two!

If all goes according to plan, the maintenance, which started on the 9th of December will be finished on the 31st January.
