Would you credit it? Here we are in 2011 and around 200 of the taxis which serve Mallorca's airport near Palma don't have machines so that passengers can pay by credit card. It's both surprising in
this day and age and because of the distances to some of the resorts on the island which are 60 or 70 km away which could mean a fare of €70 or €80 depending on the time of day.
Aena, the national airports' authority in Spain, has asked Palma city council to ensure that every taxi driver who works at the airport should have a credit card machine. The council are all in
favour of this, and so are the taxi drivers, the only problem is that they don't want to pay the charges imposed by the credit card companies that every other retailer in the world does.
What are they like?
