A plan has come together with perfect timing down at Puerto Soller.
A plan has come together with perfect timing down at Puerto Soller. The pleasure craft moorings in the port have too much sand on the sea bed causing the
boats to beach in times of bad weather and the Traves beach (the one nearest to the port) hasn't got enough sand.
What to do? Well the Balearic Ports authority is spending €145,000 to dredge about 4000 tonnes of excess sand from the moorings. A mixture of sand and water is sucked up a giant pipeline and
deposited in a temporary reservoir built near the beach.
Here, it's dried out and used by the coastal authorities to make the beach wider for bathers in the summer, so everybody's happy.
