The longest running superyacht regatta in Europe returns to Palma
The longest running superyacht regatta in Europe returns to Palma this week. The Superyacht Cup has been held in Mallorca since 1996 and
ranks alongside similar regattas in St Barth's, Newport RI and Sardinia and this year will bring 19 sleek seagoing vessels and their crews to the island's capital.
It's not just about the racing though, as the many 'apres sail' dock parties in the Superyacht village and elsewhere will attest. During the 4 days of the event from 22nd to 25th June there are
cocktail parties, hog roasts, Hawaiian BBQs and a grand prize giving do at Es Baluard with music by Pacha.
Unfortunately the public are not allowed into the village in Palma marina for the first three days but are more than welcome to visit on the Saturday morning. However, everyone should have
excellent views of the craft leaving the dock each race day (Thursday, Friday and Saturday) at 11.00.
As our photos show, it certainly is a wonderful event, and one which is very important to the city's economy given the amount of publicity and money it brings!
