Mallorca certainly is the place to be if you like a bit of art and culture on your holidays.
Mallorca certainly is the place to be if you like a bit of art and culture on your holidays. A glance through our news section will reveal a wide choice of galleries and museums, both public and
private, with classical and modern paintings, sculptures and photographs on display.
Now Calvia council has, as part of its programme of winter activities to attract off season visitors to the area, stolen a march by bringing art to the people. The streets of Calvia – centred
around the resorts of Palmanova and Magaluf – will display the works of some of Spain's best Graffiti artists on the façades
of their buildings in an exhibition called BetArt.
Fourteen murals will be on show from 1st to 15th October including ten new ones from taggers Escif, Nuria Mora, E1000, Maíllo, Nano 4814, Spok, Javier Garló, Llorenç Balaguer ´Negrotinto´, Bartomeu
Sastre and Andrés Senra. Thanks to the council, electricity company Endesa and the Hotels Vistasol, Son Caliu Spa Oasis, Ibersol Son Caliu Mar and the Inn Apartments, who have all donated their
properties for a lick of paint, the artists will have some big blank canvasses on which to show their talents.
The Hotel Vistasol, which has sponsored the event, will be the nerve centre of these urban artistic activities which will also include talks, music and workshops. As you can see from our photos,
taken from the BetArt Facebook page, the murals are unbelievably good, as our during and after shots of Kike del Rio y Moisés
Lozano's work last year demonstrate.
