The wonderful island of Mallorca has featured in a myriad of films and high profile advertisements over the years, but you'd probably never know it. Some of the world's leading brands and film
makers have used the island to represent almost the four corners of the planet in their high profile publicity shoots.
The beauty of the island as a location is that it has everything within a comparatively small area, beautiful landscape, fabulous beaches, the deep blue sea, mountain villages, marinas, harbours
and most importantly good weather and perfect light.
In Palma, the modern, cosmopolitan capital city, there's a diverse range of architecture which has been used to represent Paris, Italy, London's Soho, New York's Tribeca, and as we shall see, the
Germán Traver, head of location services at Palma Pictures, the company which facilitates film productions on the island, also points out that in addition to all these advantages Mallorca also has
the perfect infrastructure to support the industry with a large and economical hotel base coupled with a modern airport with plenty of international flights.
Just to illustrate the importance of these productions to the island economy, the recent Captain Morgan advertisement, shot for a Superbowl slot, used around 400 actors and technicians and left
around €750,000 in the island's coffers as well as the great publicity for the Mallorca as these ads are seen by over 100 million people.
The list of top brands having used Mallorca for their publicity is almost endless, but includes Nike, Heinz, Armani, Budweiser, Lexus, Volkswagen, Stella Artois and Special K amongst others. To see
them all, take a look at Palma Pictures website – it's surprising how many locations you'll recognise!
