History comes alive at Palma's magnificent Gothic Bellver castle – the first circular castle in all Europe
History comes alive at Palma's magnificent Gothic Bellver castle – the first circular castle in all Europe – this summer when weekly dramatised tours are held there. Called “Historia contada,
historia creada” (history told, history created) the tour is designed to be both entertaining and educational, featuring actors in period costume explaining the history of the castle. Inextricably
linked with the history Palma itself from the Christian reconquest, the castle also has relics in its museum from prehistoric and Roman times.
Run by Palma council's culture department and presented by two other organitions, INART and Té a tres, the theatrical visits take place every Wednesday at 10.00 until the end of August and are in
English as well as Spanish and local lingo Catalan. They last 90 minutes and cost only €10 which reduces to €8 if the group size goes above 10 people. Places are limited, but if there is sufficient
demand the castle will happily put on a further visit on Thursday at 10.00 too!
