The Circo Alegria on ice comes to town for Christmas
It's not that often we get a chance to see an ice spectacular in Palma but this Christmas we do courtesy of the Circo Alegria which brings a combination of brilliant skaters and dancers from all
over Europe together with some of Spain's best circus acts in a show suitable for all ages.
The Circo Alegria seems to be continually touring throughout Spain, and Palma is the next stop for the show which is a fusion of the traditional and the innovative and all staged on an ecological
ice rink which – and don't ask me how they do it – does not consume energy.
The show is set in the Arctic, though there's no need to bring a whale-skin suit to keep warm as the circus ring is fully climate controlled, and features a musical storyline of a seal and a
hunter. Throughout the show, jugglers, acrobats, trapeze artists and other performers bring their thrilling, dare devil skills on the wheel of death, Russian swing and trampolines to an enthralled
audience. My favourite is definitely the rather attractive young lady contortionist – one slip on the ice and you never know what will end up where!
The circus on ice is in Palma from 5th December to 11th January at the Son Fusteret showground near the ring road and if you fancy going along, tickets are available online on
the circus website.
