British bobbies, Looky Lookies and Rafa Nadal
Around 200,000 items of cheap counterfeit tat which were confiscated by police in Playa de Palma were destroyed this week by Palma council. The sunglasses, CDs, cheap watches and so on were taken
from the Looky Looky men – walking beach salesmen – in 1300 police 'raids.' It's all part of the effort to make Mallorca's resorts more pleasant for tourists.
Over in Magaluf, Calvia council have introduced stringent new laws to curb uncivil behaviour caused by over indulgence in cheap alcohol. They have banned drinking in the street and organised pub
crawls and as most of the perpetrators are young British people, they will be bringing in British Bobbies to patrol the streets.
Mallorca's favourite son, tennis superstar Rafa Nadal is to continue his modelling career next year when he will be the face of Tommy Hilfiger's Autumn 15 collection. Rafa's already made an
outstanding contribution to Emporio Armani's underwear sales and will use his effortless style to exemplify the spirit of his old friend Hilfiger's designs.
