Flamenco nights around Mallorca

Pure passion, emotion and beauty in Alcudia, Arta and Es Trenc

The raw passion and guttural emotion of gypsy Flamenco in its purest form comes to Mallorca this month as one of Spain's finest dancers makes two appearances on the island. Rafael Amargo is so, so
famous in Spain as a dancer, an actor in films and TV and is the 'face' for Roberto Cavalli's fashion designs in Spain.

He's performed in his own spectacular shows to critical and popular acclaim all over the world and now brings his new production Alaire to Mallorca. His first for three years, it's subtitled 'Free
Flamenco' and whilst remaining true to the traditions of the music and dance, it has avant-gardist touches which make it a refreshing change from the norm.

Featuring 10 dancers and specially composed music, the show visits Alcudia Auditorium on Saturday 12th July at 22.00 (tickets €35 – tel 971 897 185) and Arta Theatre on Sunday 13th July, 21.00 and
tickets are €35 (Tel 971 82 97 00)

However, if you fancy a bit of equally gut wrenching Flamenco in a less formal setting, then head over to Mallorca's fantastic Es Trenc beach where the chiringuito s'Embat serves up a double
helping (due to popular demand) each week.

Thursdays and Saturdays feature a typical Flamenco quartet; guitar, box, voice and feet. The feet in question belong to Silvia Fernandez, known as la Chispa (the spark) she's one of the most sought
after dancers on the island, and if you go along, you'll see why!

All the concerts at s'Embat are free – take a look at the link for more information.
