Mallorca Jazz: Tribute to Dizzy

One of Mallorca's many talented young musicians will be performing in front of his home town crowd

One of Mallorca's many talented young musicians will be performing in front of his home town crowd this week. Trumpeter Pep
Garau
will be back in Santa Margalida giving a concert at the Municipal Auditorium in which he pays tribute to the music of Dizzy Gillespie!

Under the headline of 'To Be or Not to Bop' Garau will be running through Gillespie's fast, furious and frenetically paced catalogue of BeBop and CuBop stylings and promises to be an exciting
evening.

Born in Santa Margalida in 1989, pep started studying music here when he was 10 and at 18 went off to Barcelona to study modern music, graduating from the Conservatori Superior del Liceu! Here in
Mallorca he can be found playing different styles of music in a variety of combos like Orange Juice Funk Collective, Very Pomelo, The Impressions and has made over 50 recordings with them.

Here's a video of him playing Misty, which will leave you as helpless as a kitten up a tree, and if it inspires you to go along to the concert, the details are;
