Smooth, soulful Saturday sounds

Christa Elmer plays Palma's rooftop Blue Jazz Club

Now life is a little less hectic as Mallorca's busy, busy summer season is drawing to a close  it's time to kick back and relax with some of life's finer things. A good dinner and some
sophisticated cocktails to a smooth jazzy/soulful soundtrack with superb views of the twinkling lights of the night-time cityscape.

This Saturday the superb swiss singer Christa Elmer appears with her band, iDos (get it, bandidos?) at the Hotel Saratoga's Blue Jazz Club. The seventh floor venue has fantastic views over Palma
and enjoys a sophisticated, grown up musical/gastronomic atmosphere when bands play live there.

Christa's one of the mainstays of the Mallorca Jazz scene and sings either solo – she plays piano and harmonica – or with her band, with a repertoire which includes Jazz standards through to soul
and rock in a voice which you would swear was a black woman's if you didn't know better.

Her reputation gets her gigs at some of the island's top venues and social functions and our photo shows her performing at the CCA in Andratx which we featured
in a news article last week. If we haven't whetted your appetite for some dinner jazz with Christa, take a look at our vid, filmed at the opening of an exhibition of Jazz photos.

Fancy going? It's this Saturday, 18th October at 23.00 and is free to get in.
