Palma's one stop shop for everything Mallorcan.
Mallorca's finest gastronomic and artisan products, together with access to its fascinating, history, architecture and legends are all under one roof near the charming Plaza of Santa Eulalia in
Palma. Tipika, on Calle Morey, is a one stop shop for all you'll ever need to get to know Mallorca.
Not only does it stock a whole range of products made in, and typical of, Mallorca; pottery, wood and metal craftwork, glassware, scents and more, but it's also a gastronomic Heaven for foodies.
With shelves stacked full of bottles, jars and boxes containing local liqueurs, wines, spirits, salt, jam and pate as well as sausages and cured meat clients are spoiled for choice! But what to
buy? Well Tipika have made this easy for us with special tastings of a whole selection of foodstuffs and priced at an easy on the wallet €7.
By arranging a tasting in advance (tel 971 728 983) you can sample almonds, apricots, country bread, olive oil, sobrasada, crackers, jam, pate, biscuits and wine. A great selection, and all easy
enough to slip into your suitcase as great souvenirs of presents of a trip to the island. For the really enthusiastic, there are food workshops and tastings designed to show off the products in a
more detailed manner – for example, the artisan beer tasting workshop is one that has enticed me for some reason.
Tipika is also the HQ of the nice people at Mallorca Rutes who organise guided tours to see some of the fascinating sights of Palma and
Mallorca. We've already featured the 'Patio Tour' but there are many more; the Jewish Quarter, Palaces, Legends of Palma etc. In Spanish, Catalan, English and German, they can be booked by
individuals and if there are enough of you for a group, they will tailor a tour specially for you!
The shop is open from 10.00 to 19.30 Monday to Friday and 10.00 to 15.00 on Saturday when not only can you can taste, try and buy, but also book your place on any of the tours. Give it a go.
