Botanica Insolita returns to Puerto Portals
If, like me, you've been watching the Chelsea Flower Show (Chelseaus Flowerium Showus) this week, you'll be pleased to hear that Mallorca once again has its own Mediterranean version soon. Botanica Insolita makes its third hardy annual appearance at the swishest of swish sports harbours just outside Palma, Puerto Portals on 29th to 31st May 2015.
It's the show's second port of call this year as the displays of flowers, plants, gardens, landscaping and ecological products called in at Madrid's Matadero cultural/exhibition centre a couple of weeks ago. The aim of the show is to promote all things botanical and ecological, so whilst there'll be hundreds and hundreds of plants to see, there will also be environmental workshops and lots of good healthy food.
Split into four distinct areas, there's something for everyone with an interest in gardening and horticulture;
Botanica Insolita – plants, horticulture, flowers and gardening
Creative Nature – landscaping, sustainable architecture, renewable energy, recycling and garden design.
Biomarket – ecological and botanical products for sale
Gastronomy – gastro-botany, street food, vegeterian and vegan food
And if watching your lunch grow wasn't exciting enough, there's live entertainment each day at 18:00! Friday sees Flavia N playing Bossa and Jazz, on Saturday El niño alcalino and the chuskers play Swing, Soul & Funk, and Flavia N's back on Sunday playing Brazilian!
So, what could be better, strolling about in the sunshine by the clear blue sea, surrounded by vibrantly coloured flowers and food, with perhaps a long cold G&T? Not much surely?
Try to visit if you're in Mallorca, it's free and interesting to see a selection of plants and flowers which thrive in the Mediterranean climate.
