Big Palma Reggae festival with The Original Wailers
No matter where you are in the world, whenever a Reggae tune is played you're automatically transported to lazy, laid back summer days on the tropical island of Jamaica. It really is the sound of summer and next Saturday, on a hot Mallorcan night you can listen to the infectious chugging beat of a host of artists from the Reggae world, headlined by The Original Wailers.
Once the backing band for the genres most famous exponent, Bob Marley, the band now ply their trade all over the world though the only member who actually played when Marley was alive was guitarist Al Anderson. Nevertheless, they're an accomplished combo and are booked solid on tours for months in advance.
Reggae is extermely popular in these parts and there are bands playing all over the Balearics and Spain, and the majority of the roster for the 'One Love mallorca Reggae Festival' are Spanish artists. Kicking off at 18:30 until 01:00 on 4th July (tickets €18) the concert is being held at the Son Fusteret festival grounds on the outskirts of Palma which has loads of parking and good public transport links to the city.
The lineup is; Xarlee Green (Mallorca) - Jaume Mas (Baleares) - Hermano Ele (Madrid) - Lasai (Madrid) - Badalonians Sound (Madrid) - Senor Wilson (Madrid) - Full Play (Madrid) – and The Original Wailers (Jaimaica.) Also on tap will be activities for kids, a skate park, food and drink stalls and a craft market which hopefully will be selling dreadlock wigs and giant tea cosey hats for us to get into the spirit of the festival.
So, if you want to lively up yourself, then get up stand up and get your tickets if you don't want to wait in vain! Offical website for info and tickets – just click.
