Tapas, wine and Black Music meet head on in Banyalbufar
The picturesque little town of Banyalbufar in the Tramuntana mountains is holding it annual music, tapas and wine party on Saturday and everyone's invited. Known as Eres Negre – You're Black – it has an international and local focus by featuring Black American music; Soul, Funk and Jazz, and two superb locally grown products; vine tomatoes and malvasia grapes.
In days of yore, the grapes and tomatoes were grown on the seafront agricultural terraces of the town, known as the hanging gardens of Banyalbufar, whose name means vineyards by the sea in Arabic. On Saturday 25th July the tomatoes will form an important part of some of the tasty and creative tapas provided by 7 local bars around the town centre, in fact about 6000 of them, which will cost €3 and include a glass of chilled malvasia as an ideal accompaniment. You can enjoy the food from 12 to 16 as well as strolling musicians, Marino and Marini, who'll be playing in all the bars during the sesh.
From 18 to 21:30, DJ Carlito Groove chills us through the sunset and the real fun begins at 22:30 until 4 in the morning (!!!!) when the concert takes place in the main square. This has a limited attendance set at 450 people and costs €15 so if you want to go, book your tickets online on the official Eres Negre site which has loads of information about the festy and a great video.
The entertainment is provided by Aurora and the Betrayers, Arnaut, Electroid and as usual, Minimal TV will be on digital imaging duties, projecting all sorts of weird and wonderful things onto the facades of nearby buildings. Sounds like lots of fun to me, shame I can't make it, but will you?
