November, a month of Rock and Opera classics in Palma
Palma Auditorium, on the city's harbourside Paseo Maritimo, has an extensive programme of entertainment from now until the new year. We'll be highlighting some of the festive events nearer the time, but right now it's time to tell you about some of the classics planned for November.
Ideal for an international audience, the Auditorium's main stage plays host to four big spectaculars, two operas and two rock productions. First off the blocks is the Opera company of the National Theatre of Varna in Bulgaria who are performing a couple of Italian operas; Verdi's La Traviata, the tragic story of a woman dying of consumption and Puccini's Tosca, a melodramatic tale set in Rome during the French invasion and containing depictions of torture, murder and suicide!
Perhaps less dramatic, but equally entertaining are the two rock 'operas;' Remember Queen which tells the story of the band through their greatest hits and The History of Rock, a non-stop extravaganza of the greatest music of the modern era with all the songs we love from Chuck Berry, Elvis, The Beatles and Stones through to Guns'n'Roses, Queen and Bruce Springsteen!
I'm up for those! Here are the details
Nov 6, 21:00 – La Traviata €45, €55, €65
Nov 7, 21:00 – Tosca €45, €55, €65
Nov 14, 21:00 – Remember Queen €32
Nov 22, 18:30 – The History of Rock €40, €43
And remember, like other operas, there ain't no fat lady in La Traviata, but it ain't over till the thin lady coughs!
