Traditional craft markets AND demonstrations
There are different craft markets taking place in various locations in Palma throughout the summer but to say farewell to the high season in style the Association of Artisans has organised its second Artisan Week, starting today.
The association prides itself on producing local crafts in the traditional way and guarantees that any stall holder on its markets actually produces their products themselves. With this in mind, for this week only, the craftsmen actually bring their workshops to the market to demonstrate just how they work.
Last year, the event was staged only in the market of the s'Hort del Rey by the cathedral but this year will also take place in two other locations; the Paseo Sagrera by the fortified city walls facing the port, and the Plaza Mayor, the main square in the city centre.
Every day from 5th to 10th October from 10:00 to 16:00 you'll be able to see how the different craftsmen produce pottery, leather, jewellery, prints, glass, printmaking and so on and buy it directly from them. It's a fascinating experience seeing them in action with their tools and equipment and their products make an ideal memento of a trip to Mallorca.
