New Hammam opens in Palma

A relaxing treat for your whole body and mind

One the 'must sees' on any visit to Palma is the original Arabic Baths tucked away in one of the narrow streets behind the cathedral, which still has nearly all its original features on show. It gives an idea of the relaxing, cleansing regime that the Moors enjoyed during their occupation of the island and now, we can enjoy that ourselves in the brand new Hammam Palma which has just opened in the city.

The owners have really gone to town on creating a relaxing atmosphere with the whole Turkish style of décor and ambience in the Hammam. I'm already de-stressing just looking at the photos and can't wait to give it a go.

So, the idea of spending time in the Hammam is to relieve the tensions of everyday life and boost your physical and mental state and here's what they do, according to their website;

“Water and health are two inseparable concepts.

The beneficial effects of the Hammam are immediately visible: the skin becomes more supple and luminous, toxins are removed, steam helps to open the airways, and beyond the physical benefits, helps us to feel rested and relax the mind and body.

Music, light, mint, temperature contrasts and incense aromas: The hammam opens your senses.

Be seduced by this great ancient tradition to relieve stress and release the tensions of everyday life.

Pay close attention to all of the information you receive through your senses. Visiting a Hammam is a unique and pleasant, almost magical experience.

A dream bath straight out of the Arabian Nights!”

The experiences within are many and varied, ranging from an hour's thermal bath with aromatherapy for €27, a bath and 30 minute massage for €57, through to the daddy of them all, the full monty, Turkish style. I'll let the owners describe it;

After the thermal bath, be seduced by an authentic hammam ritual.

Relaxation and beauty come together in a dream treatment. It includes: Thermal bath with aromatherapy, Moroccan black soap or foam bath application, oriental exfoliation on a warm marble table, and a 30 minute massage to finish it off with the perfect complement.

Choose from two ways to lather your skin: with Moroccan black soap, a black olive and eucalyptus-scented paste or the traditional soft foam bath used in authentic Turkish baths.

Both will leave your skin ready for an intense exfoliation performed with an authentic kessa glove on the warm marble table.

The skin is cleansed and purified in depth, it softens and is then ready to receive all the benefits of our essential oils.

120 minutes aprox.”

Doesn't it sound excruciatingly pleasurable?

All you need to do is reserve your appointment in advance, take a swimsuit and talk quietly whilst enjoying your time there.
