And the winner is
Just last January 425 photographers entered the 29th Palma Photography competition and rushed around Palma for just one day snapping photographs
in a number of hitherto unknown categories. With the different themes for the photographs only revealed on the very morning of the comp, there's no room for mulling over your plans, it's a case of
get out there and hustle!
So, the six categories were; hanging clothes, homage to great photographers imitating mythical photos, daily life, architectural spaces, es Jonquet (an area of Palma near Santa Catalina) and the
family. There was a winner in each class with some very nice prizes, thank you very much, and an overall winner of everything.
This year Alberto Serrano Zarraute, who has won some categories previously, scooped the top prize with this homage to Elliott Erwitt, the French born American photographer known for his candid
shots of absurd situations in ordinary settings. I think the little dog's face tells it all in the photo.
All the best photos are now in an exhibition at Palma's Casal Solleric until the 4th May which is completely free to enter and fascinating to see. It's open from Tuesday to Saturday
11:00 to 14:00 and 15:30 to 20:30, and Sunday 11:00 to 14:30.
