VII Mallorca Saxophone Festival

A whole week of concerts in Palma by accomplished saxophonists

These days we tend to think of the saxophone, let's call it a sax from now on, as an instrument used primarily in Jazz and popular music. Coleman Hawkins, John Coltrane, Baker Street and Pick Up
the Pieces, immediately spring to mind when we mention sax music. However, the sax was invented to be used in both classical and military orchestras and bands as we shall see from the programme of
the VII Mallorca Sax Festival.

Inaugurated in 2009 the sax fest has been going strong ever since and is organised annually by the Association of Saxophonists and the Superior Conservatory of Music of the Balearics. Its aim is to
promote the music of the sax in all its forms and attract young musicians on the island to the instrument. It's also a great watch, with some talented players from all fields of music and all over
the world involved.

more accessible performances and the music school the more serious ones. They're all free, so go along and have a look if you're in Mallorca.
