Pianist David Gomez tickles the ivories in Mallorca one more time
It's a simple idea, but one that works fantastically well. Take one piano, surround it with the romantic light of 200 flickering candles in an emblematic, enigmatic setting and play beautiful music. The young pianist David Gomez is now in his fourth '1 Piano & 200 Candles' tour of Spain and will be playing 4 concerts across Mallorca this summer.
If you read our past articles you'll know that the talented pianist – he's been performing in public since he was 14 – chooses emblematic and unusual venues for his shows; aqueducts, castles, cemeteries, old car graveyards and so on.
His Mallorca concerts are really special occasions combining the music; a varied mix of classics, tango, film themes and his own compositions played with subdued lighting against a backdrop of spectacular or unusual scenery – this year held in a lighthouse, a monastery, a station, and a vineyard!
Tickets cost from €20 upwards (there are VIP versions available) and can be bought on the official website along with merchandise and music. A nice touch which can be purchased online too, is that members of the audience can request a dedication of one of the compositions to a friend or loved one which David Gomez will read out before playing it. What a lovely surprise!
All the concerts start at 22:00 – the candles look so much better in the night air – and take place at;
Friday 01/07/2016, Port d'Andratx lighthouse.
Thursday 07/07/2016, Cartuja Monastery, Valldemossa - photo
Thursday 04/08/2016, Bunyola station
Friday 26/08/2016, Finca Son Verd de Vins Can Novell, Binissalem
Try to make one of the concerts if you're in Mallorca, they really are magical.
