A fleet of mini buses to help alleviate parking problems
The biggest problem facing Mallorca's beautiful, unspoilt beaches is that they are in danger of becoming not quite so beautiful because of their popularity. Mallorca Spotlight has recently run articles about too much traffic in Cala Varques and new environmentally friendly car parks at Es Trenc, measures which are designed to lessen the impact of the motor car and its occupants on the beaches.
It's Es Trenc's turn again today as the island's transport authority, TIB, along with the local Campos council, have started a shuttle bus service to ferry beach lovers to and from the miles of soft white sand. Tib have brought in 3 microbuses from the mainland which will run the service from the Nautical Club at Sa Rapita down to Ses Covetes for Es Trenc every day during the summer. Starting at 10 in the morning until 20.45 at night, it will run every 12 to 15 minutes depending on the demand.
This new route, the 535, will only cost users €1 and better still, if you have a carpark ticket receipt (max 5 people per receipt) or have travelled to Sa Rapita on one of the other TIB bus services, it's completely free!
Let's hope the new service is the success it deserves to be and one of Mallorca's most spectacular beaches remains a pristine haven for all to enjoy.
