Voted number 1 natural travel destination
Mallorca's World Heritage site, the enormous area of the Tramuntana mountain range, which runs the whole length of the west coast from Andratx in the south to Pollensa in the north, has been voted number one natural tourist destination in Spain.
The accolade was bestowed upon it by the users of the behemoth travel site Tripadvisor who chose it above other prestigious sites and natural parks on the Spanish mainland and the islands, and it's easy to see why.
The area, quite literally has everything that a discerning tourist could want in a holiday; blue seas, pristine beaches, pretty coves, picturesque towns and villages, majestic mountains, well laid out hiking trails, good public transport, challenging cycling (road and mountain bike) routes, superb hotels, excellent bars and restaurants, a plethora of local markets and products, and finally, interesting architecture, art, culture and history.
I love it and have holidayed there many times across all seasons and I've selected a few of my own holiday snaps for the gallery above as a taster for anyone who hasn't yet been. Almost at random, I chose a getaway from it all rural retreat as a tiny example of the vast range of choice of accommodation available in the area from private villas, to small hostals, to luxury 5 star hotels.
It's La Posada del Marqués in Esporles and offers a relaxed, country atmosphere with superb views of the mountains – have a look for further details and to book online by clicking the link.
