Palma Opera Season XXXI

Five nights at the opera

Palma's Teatro Principal, a wonderful setting in itself, begins its 31st opera season next month with a great line up of five different productions which you can see at a fraction of the cost of the big western European opera houses like London, Paris and even Barcelona.

The Teatro Principal really is a great venue, with excellent views (apart from a few seats priced at a miniscule €10,) good acoustics, aesthetically pleasing décor and reasonably priced beer and ham sandwiches during the interval – what's not to like?

The productions themselves are excellent with a mix of local and international singers backed by the Balearic Symphony Orchestra. I've been and can heartily recommend the occasion as a chance to enjoy some fantastic music and dress in your finest outfits like nearly everyone else!

You can find out more details like the times of performances and who's singing and dancing what on the Teatro Principal's website as well as book tickets for the shows. The most expensive tickets will set you back only €65 and there are many cheaper options, but best of all you can buy a ticket for all five productions which will give you a substantial discount.

Will we see you there?
