Sundays in the cloisters
Now that the warm summer evenings are here it's time to kick back and relax alfresco style with some easy on the ear music as the Inca Jazz festival starts this weekend. Each Sunday in July the lovely old Sant Domingo convent cloister with its beautiful sandstone columns forms the perfect theatre for the performers and audience alike.
This year there's a €2 donation on entry which goes to a charitable foundation which last year funded 'musictherapy' for those at risk of social exclusion with the proceeds, so all for a good cause. As usual there's be plenty of tapas and wine available courtesy of local restaurants and bodegas, and all at 'popular' prices which won't put your wallet into intensive care!
So, who's playing in the concerts which all start at a comfortable time of 21:00 just as the heat is going out of the day;
July 2 - SZG Big Band. Some of Mallorca's best musicians perform some classic big band sounds together.
July 9 - Richard Vinton. The pianist will mix numbers from his album Songs without Words with Jazz standards and rhythm and blues themes.
July 16 - Enrique Oliver Quintet. These guys have performed at some of the most important jazz fests worldwide.
July 23 - Incajazz Reunion. A group of young musicians, full of enthusiasm, who promise good vibes in the cloister.
Sounds like a very pleasant way to spend a warm summer evening, see you there?
