Nasty Women in Mallorca

Anne Hathaway and Rebel Wilson

An enormous film crew more or less took over the swish marina of Puerto Portals the other day and under a blanket of security shot scenes for a new film 'Nasty Women' in the area. The production stars Anne Hathaway and Rebel Wilson in a gender reversing version of the 1988 comedy Dirty Rotten Scoundrels with Steve Martin and Michael Caine.

The two nasty women (it's a reference to Donald Trump's opinion of Hillary Clinton) play the scam artists – one high class and one not – who compete to swindle a naïve dotcom millionaire out of his fortune.

So what better place to film than in the upscale surroundings of Puerto Portals, chock full of luxury yachts, flash cars parked hither and thither and more designer shops than you can shake a gold Rolex at. As I said, security was tight with absolutely no photography allowed, though there are some rather long range shots appearing in the papers today.

Despite this ban, the aptly named Rebel Wilson has been busy instagramming herself with Rafa Nadal and this shot I've borrowed of her in what appears to be a solid gold sports car on set!

It's another shot (pun intended) for the economy of Mallorca, not just for the money that the actual production brings in, but also for the immense free publicity it gives to the tourism industry. One only needs to look at the effect The Night Manager had on bookings to Mallorca when it was shown the other year!

So, look out for the film when it is released next year.
