Jazz Voyeur Club reopens

Live Music Returns

One of the mainstays of Palma's live music scene reopens for business this weekend after a prolonged holiday layoff since New Year. The silence will be broken on Friday 2nd March when the first musicians take to the stage at the small, but perfectly formed Jazz Voyeur Club.

The club has been a stalwart of Mallorca's Jazz, Soul, Blues, Rock, Funk and Folk – in fact all good live music – scene since 2006 and before then was called the Cafe Barcelona. Situated in the narrow Apuntadors street in the Lonja area of Palma old town, it's in the same 16th century palace as the wonderful Abaco bar just round the corner.

Up a small flight of stairs from street level, the club is an intimate space where the lines of the performers and audience occasionally blur when it's full. Nevertheless this all helps – along with the inexpensive drinks prices - to create a buzzing atmosphere when the bands are on.The other good thing for me is that with a start time of around 9 pm ish I don't have to stay up half the night just to listen to a band!

JVC is open from 20:30 nightly and closes at 01:00 from Sunday to Thursday and 03:00 on Friday and Saturday when there are two bands on. It is closed on Mondays.

It's absolutely free to get in and you can see the programme for March 2018 on this link to Facebook.
