Boutique Minister Hotel
Just 15 years ago when I first went to Puerto de Soller thanks to the attraction of the Soller train and tram I found a typical package tour resort. Apart from the stunning scenery of the Tramuntana mountains I could have been in any number of Mediterranean resorts given the homogeneity of the hotels, cafes and restaurants in the port.
Nowadays a sea change has taken place; the old fishing industry paraphernalia around the port has been shifted leaving open areas where restaurant terraces have a pleasant outlook over the sea, modern new buildings and facilities are planned for the jetties and renovations and new builds have improved the accommodation offer no end.
Obviously the main star in the hotel firmament is the imposing 5* Jumeirah looking down on the town but other options include the Scandi-styled Esplendido and the wonderfully renovated Aima. I'm happy to say that another 'design' hotel has joined the ranks of places I'd like to stay in the port, The Boutique Minister Hotel, lovingly converted into a paragon of contemporarily styled accommodation by a local businessman.
Right on the promenade by Repic beach, this small hotel with just 12 double rooms and 11 suites, is as stylish and uncluttered in its décor – clean lines, spacious areas, tonal colourways and light, bright atmosphere – as I want my seaside holiday to be.
I'm already relaxed just thinking about the décor, I might just pop out to lounge on the decking by the pool – it's heated so you can swim all year round – and gaze on the majesty of the mountains. For lunch or dinner, the promenade side Sa Gavina restaurant has carefully prepared and presented local dishes with a few modern twists and you can choose to dine alfresco.
Naturally, you get a few of life's little luxuries thrown in when you stay at the Minister; a pillow menu, robes, and a 'diving baptism' course in the summer months. There's plenty more on offer, so take a look at our accommodation section for all the info and to book online.
Even though it's only been open for a few months, the reviews from happy clients on bookindotcom have qualified it as 'Superb' with an average score of 9.2 overall. So will you be saying 'yes, minister' to this hotel?
