Wine Days in Palma

The Binissalem wine show

san francisco cloister, palma

For the last few years Mallorca's most famous wine growing area, the Binissalem DO, has had its very own big wine festival lasting over a week with lots of activities revolving around the drinking of wine and its social aspects – wine tastings, walks, vineyard tours, music, entertainment and food.

Called 'Wine Days,' the fifth version of the festival starts at the weekend with one big difference – one of the events will be held in Palma, making it more easily accessible to all of us. Taking place in one of Palma's most emblematic and beautiful buildings, the cloister of the San Franciscan monks in the centre of town, it will host music, wine and tapas.

On Saturday 12th May from 18 to 22:30 we'll be able to sample some of the best wines from Binissalem for the low. Low price of €5 for three measures of wine and your glass is included in the price! If you want any more wine, it'll cost only €2 per glass, and you can glug it with a great choice of tapas. Costing only €3 per portion, the tapas are provided by 5 of the island's top chefs using quality products from the island, and all to a live musical accompaniment.

Sounds like a good way to spend a Saturday evening: wine, food, song, and a magnificent historical setting which played a large part in the history of California in the USA – read about that here.
