Aerotib airport bus service

Direct from airport to resort

airport bus service map of stops

Last year the Mallorcan transport authorities introduced new direct bus services from Palma airport to the main resorts of the island. Unpopular with the taxi drivers who unsurprisingly saw it as unfair competition and surprisingly not as popular as thought with tourists who didn't use it as much as predicted.

The service, though pared back from last year is still up and running, and could be a boon for certain holidaymakers. Those of us on non-package tour holidays, singles or couples, who are travelling light (and we probably are on budget airline flights) can save money but lose a little time by taking the airport bus.

There are currently 4 services in operation throughout the holiday season which connect the airport to the resorts without the need to transfer in the main transport hub in Palma;

A11 Peguera - Magaluf - Airport

A32 Can Picafort - Platja Muro / Alcúdia - Airport

A42 Cala Bona - Cala Millor - Airport

A51 Cala d'Or - s' Arenal de Llucmajor - Airport

There's a wealth of information about the services on the official transport website of the Balearics (TIB) which gives the timetables of the buses, the fares, a map and details of all the stops along the way, and really helpful; a list of the hotels near to the bus stops so you know where to get off!

The fares obviously vary with the length of the journey but most are in single digits with the two longest journeys at €10 and €12, with these taking over an hour and a half to reach their destination. As I said, the bus service is ideal for singles or couples who are not in a hurry, but a family of four (the maximum number which can be carried in a legal taxi) with tons of luggage and inflated flamingo pool toys would probably be better jumping in a taxi.
