Free guided tour of Palma
If you've been to some of the big cities in Europe – Prague for example – you'll be familiar with the concept of the free guided walking tour. You just turn up at a certain time, enjoy an extremely interesting and totally free tour with a knowledgeable and qualified guide whom you can tip as much or little as you like.
It's also a hook by the tour company to entice you into buying more tours which you actually pay for once you've had a taster about how good they are. I've been on them myself and always booked more as they certainly do give you depth of knowledge about a place that you would never get just strolling about alone.
Well, courtesy of Mallorca Free Tour, you can now enjoy this experience in Palma as a little sample of how good the paid tours are. It's a dead easy system, if you fancy a tour of Palma's main sights, just meet by the tourist office in the Parque del Mar in front of the cathedral at 11am every day except Sunday, come rain, hail, or shine – just look out for the orange tshirts!
The taster tour takes in;
•Plaza Mayor (Main Square)
•Churches (San Miguel, Santa Eulalia …)
•Famous typical Mallorcan courtyards
•Mercat de l’Olivar (Typical and main local market)
•San Miguel street and Plaza España
lasts about 2 hours and is given in Spanish and English.
Give it a try, and if you need some pre-information about the other tours you can do – including the theatricalised ones – take a look at the website.
