The ladies of Jazz
Thursday night Jazz returns to the atmospheric and picturesque setting of Banyalbufar and Port des Canonge this week. Every summer since 2008 the town hall has organised free weekly Jazz concerts and 2018 is no exception, this year with a theme of The Ladies of Jazz.
Even if you're not that keen on the music itself, the atmosphere and setting of the open air concerts is superb with two taking place in the village square and two way down below overlooking the sea at the port. With a 20:30 start time for all concerts, the audience at the port will have splendid views of the magnificent sunsets of the west coast as the backdrop of the mountains glows a rosy pink. Our photo, courtesy of Monkey Doo, will give you an idea of the 'stage' area.
This year's schedule is;
19th July, Marisa Blume Quartet, at the port
26th July, Jazz'n'Time, in the village
2nd August, Perikas Jazz Reunion, at the port
9th August, homage to the ladies of Jazz, in the village
It's a popular festival which outgrew its original venue due to the crowds so try to get along and see what it's all about.
