Hot drinks on the road
A few years ago in London I saw a couple of young fellows selling coffee – probably flat whites – from the back of a converted black cab. Only in Shoreditch thought I, but I was wrong, because here in Mallorca we have our own mobile coffee car courtesy of MA-13 Coffee.
Fittingly named after one of the island's major motorways, MA-13 coffee trades from a lovingly converted Renault 4l in a sparkling Diamante Azul colourway. Even more fittingly, as the old Renault (this one's 1984 vintage) is affectionately known by the Spanish as '4 latas' or 4 cups in English.
The mini mobile coffee bar has been on the road for over a year now and is just one of the fleet of travelling bars and restaurants known as food trucks which ply their trade in markets and festivals all over Mallorca.
MA-13 can be found each Wednesday at Sineu station greeting thirsty passengers in need of a pick-me-up en route to the weekly market there. It's also at the Colors market every Sunday evening in Palma and at many of the special events occurring around the island including weddings (photo) and private parties!
So if you fancy an expertly made affogato, cappuccino or a simple cafe con leche from the back of an old Renault, keep an eye on the MA-13 Facebook page for upto the minute information.
