43 restaurants taking part!
The fantastic Mostra Cuines Calvia – it means ecogastrofest in Calvia – is back. Every Friday in the borough of Calvia just to the west of Palma, a host of restaurants are cooking up brilliant 3 course menus; starter, main and sweet for ridiculously good prices - €12, €14, and €16 per person.
If that doesn't sound good then let me tell you that you get a drink, usually a water, beer, soft drink, or glass of wine included in the price too!
It's a scheme promoted by the council and restaurants themselves to show not only what the eateries in the borough can do, but also help increase out of main season tourist numbers in the area.
This year 43 restaurants are participating with representatives of all sorts of different cuisines from not only Mallorca and Spain but also the rest of the world. You'll find traditional Mallorcan and Spanish fare as well as Thai, Argentinian, Italian, Japanese and American all available.
If you're on holiday, you may be lucky enough to get to at least one of the Friday sessions, but if you're in the area for the whole month then each Friday feast takes place in a different area of Calvia
5th October – Palmanova, Magalluf, and Son Ferrer
12th October – Santa Ponsa and Costa de la Calma
19th October – El Toro, Peguera, and Cala Fornells
26th October – Illetes, Cas Catala, Bendinat and Portals Nous
Have a look at the information PDF for all the details of the restaurants, menus, prices and maps where you'll see that all sorts of eateries are taking part from typical tourist type places to some rather upmarket establishments at swanky marina Port Adriano or the trendy Balneario Illetas.
My photos are Tomahawk steakhouse in Santa Ponsa and Vino del Mar in Port Adriano.
