Mallorca's biggest tapa route
Mallorca's biggest miniature gastronomy fest takes place once again this autumn in Palma. TaPalma, a portmanteau from Tapa and Palma, will return from the 31st October to 4th November inclusive when dozens of restaurants and bars in the city will be serving up tapas and pinchos at low, low prices.
As you probably know, tapas are a superb way of social snacking, with groups of people grazing the night away from bar to bar, rarely sitting down, and meeting friends, old and new. The Spanish even have a noun for it 'tapeo,' and in the Basque country where pintxos are more prevalent, they call it 'txikiteo.'
TaPalma is an annual event organised by the association of restaurants in the city to promote both themselves and extend the holiday season. Popular with locals and tourists alike it's a win win situation for everybody!
For us, we get to sample excellent food and drink at cheap prices and enjoy the most sociable way of dining out that doesn't damage our wallets. The restaurants get to show their expertise in miniature with some wonderful gastronomic creations which are a perfect tempter for us to return for a full meal in the future.
With so many eateries taking part, the organisers group them into different routes so we don't spend too much time walking between bars in any one evening and nearer the time I'll be publicising the routes for both tapas and cocktails when they are finalised.
As you can see from the photos, there's a wide variety of food available – not just traditional Spanish – which gives a perfect taster for the international bar and restaurant scene in the cosmopolitan city.
Don't miss it.
