Puerto Portals and beyond
If you like classic cars; the curves, the lines, the chrome, the throaty roar of the engine, then Mallorca's the place to be next month when the 15th annual classic car rally takes place. From relatively humble beginnings in 2004 when 45 shining beauties took part, the event has grown and grown to the point where entry is now limited as so many want to participate.
As usual, the swish marina/mall/gastrosite Puerto Portals hosts the event thanks to its large open parking space and facilities. The dates for your diary are Thursday to Saturday, 7th to 9th March when you'll be able to see some of the finest creations of the motoring world at anchor down at the port.
Porsche, Jaguar, Chevrolet, Lotus, Mclaren, Ferrari, and Alfa Romeo, the names just accelerate off the tongue, will be lined up in no particular order for our delight. During the days, the lucky drivers will be taking them out for a spin on some of Mallorca's most testing and most picturesque routes – the roads to Formentor and Sa Calobra go without saying!
For the details of all the timings and routes (they close the roads to ordinary traffic when the rally's on) you can take a look at the official website which also has tons of photos of the lovely, lovely motorcars.
