Tenedor top hundred

S'Hort, Bunyola

No less than seven of Spain's top 100 restaurants are in Mallorca according to the users of restaurant review and booking website el Tenedor (known as the Fork in the English speaking world.) Just to the north of Palma, directly by the entrance to the Soller tunnel, you'll find S'Hort which scored a whopping 9.3 out of 10 from the Tenedorians!

No doubt if there was a category for kerb appeal then S'Hort would score a ten as the place just beckons you in with its rough hewn stone walls sympathetically uplit, rustic tiled roof and tantalising glimpse of its interior. Within, the décor is minimalist rural, calming and quiet, with just the right amount of light and a roaring log fire for chilly winter nights.

S'Hort means vegetable garden (think HORTiculture) and its mantra is 'from field to plate' as it specialises in dishes using the freshest of fresh seasonal products sourced locally. Team these up with perfectly cooked steaks, lamb, pork and fish and as you can see from the photos, the result is a gastronomic cornucopia of goodness.

You can dine from a couple of set menus which include wine or choose from the a la carte menu which has a series of 'sharing' starters like home made croquettes or Mallorcan lamb 'frito,' or choose from some delicious soups, salads or rice dishes. Main courses include roast suckling pig, roast lamb shoulder and boned rabbit with prawns and onions, and cod, sea bass and Soller prawns.

If you fancy a delicious lunch or dinner there, you can find more details on their Facebook page or call 0034 971613783. S'Hort is open daily from 11:30 to 16:00 and 19:30 a 23:00.

Have a lovely meal and maybe you'll be lucky enough to book on one of the evenings that they have live music there!
