Here's a match made in heaven; the sublime music of opera combined with the superb tasting experience of some of Mallorca's best wines. Something you don't get down the Royal Opera House is this three night event called the 'Maridtage de vi i opera' in Catalan - maridatge being a 'mariage' usually of food and wine – in which we can taste the wines of different bodegas whilst listening to live music.
The performance is called "Baco Passionate. Song, opera and zarzuela" where soprano Cecilia Lavilla Berganza and Baritone Luis Santana will perform works by Mozart, Gotifredo Ferrari, Mendelssohn and Mahler accompanied by Francesc Blanco on Piano.
The performances will also be accompanied by some excellent wines from two of Mallorca's excellent bodegas; Can Axartel and Jose L Ferrer and entrance is an incredible €15. Not bad when I tell you that a bottle of Bodega Biniagual, Memories Blanc 2017 from Mallorca will set you back £61.50 in Covent Garden!
